Lindsey Arnsmeier

4K-12 School Nurse

Phone: 608-862-3135 ext. 2418

Welcome to Health Services at the Albany School District! I am Nurse Lindsey, and I enjoy taking care of our students to ensure the best learning experience possible and to help promote the health of our schools. On this page, you will find necessary information regarding immunizations, medications at school, dental programs at school, illness guidelines, and 4th and 5th grade health education. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any concerns or questions regarding your student(s) health and well-being.

Illness

When should my child stay home from school?

Sometimes this can be difficult to determine, but here are some general guidelines:

  • Fever >100: Fevers indicate a child is fighting off some sort of illness.  Your child should be fever-free for 24 hours (without any fever reducing medications like Tylenol or ibuprofen) before returning to school.
  • Vomiting/Diarrhea: Your child may return to school after s/he has NOT vomited for 24
hours, is diarrhea-free for 24 hours without the use of medication, AND is back on a regular diet.
  • Strep throat:  Students can return to school after being on antibiotics for 24 hours
  • Generally speaking, your child should be able to fully participate in class (including gym and recess) when at school. If your child is not feeling well enough to do this, he/she should stay home for the day. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions about symptoms your child may be experiencing.

Medication Forms

Medications are NOT allowed to be self-carried at school EXCEPT rescue inhalers WITH permission from the student’s provider, parent/guardian, and school nurse.
