Celebrating Our School District Comet Points of Pride

Give Your Child a BIG Launch from a Special Little Place  ☄️

Are you looking for a more peaceful place to raise your family, away from the hustle and bustle of city life, but close enough for an evening or weekend drive to experience arts, sports and restaurants in Madison or Janesville? A place where your schools are the center of your small town community, with the beautiful, serene Sugar River running through downtown?

Visit Albany, WI, home of the Comets, where we are “Doing Something BIG in a Special Little Place.”

  • We “Exceed Expectations” on state Report Cards, with our students getting a BIG LAUNCH at Albany Elementary School which “Significantly Exceeds Expectations.” That is the state’s highest rating. As a district, we are in the top 20% statewide.
  • Our parents endorse us. In a survey, 91% of ASD parents are “likely” or “very likely” to recommend Albany Schools to a friend or family member, and 95.5% say they feel welcome in our schools.
  • Our staff endorse us. In a survey, 93.5% of ASD employees say they feel supported by the district administration and feel good about the impact they are making in their roles.
  • We teach Citizenship - Achievement - Respect - Excellence (C.A.R.E.).
Our focus on Citizenship is unique; we not only are preparing our students from 4K all the way to high school graduation with knowledge and skills for success as adults, we also are teaching them how to be good citizens — in their community, state and nation.
  • We provide wrap-around care. Our youngest kindergarteners and elementary students can attend after-school care while parents are still working, to extend their learning, including the importance of learning through play and social interaction.
  • Our students feel safe and that they belong here. In a student survey, 90% of our middle and high school students report feeling safe at school “always” or “most of the time.” That helps contribute to our 97% attendance rate - our students show up and do well.
  • Our students are known and recognized. We are a proud small district with just under 300 students in grades 4K to 12. This allows our staff to get to know every student, not just by name but by their skills and interests. Our staff help them develop their unique passions and provide individual support both in areas of struggle and strength.
  • Our students are excelling. Not only do we have strong report card scores on academic achievement and growth, 85% of students are involved in extracurricular activities, learning important lessons about teamwork and leadership. We provide dual enrollment opportunities with college credit from Black Hawk Technical College, UW-Oshkosh and UW-Green Bay.

The Albany School District serves students who live in and outside of our district. Our district boundaries include the Village of Albany and the Towns of Albany, Brooklyn, Decatur, Mount Pleasant, Sylvester and Magnolia, dotted by homes and farms in the rolling hills of Green County.
