Summer Practice Resources

Reading is the best practice that your student can do this summer! Students should read at least 20 minutes per day in order to maintain the progress that they have made this school year. Visit the library for books and other resources.

During the summer months of June, July, and August, any child that meets their parent-set reading goals can earn a free Pizza Hut® single topping Personal Pan Pizza®* from participating locations. Use the BOOK IT!® Mobile App to learn more.

Students entering 1st - 5th grades can use their Amplify Boost accounts to practice their reading skills - they can log in with their email or the QR code included in the end-of-year packet sent home with your student.

Students in Kindergarten and 1st Grade should be able to identify all uppercase and lowercase letters. They should also be able to report the sound, or sounds, that each letter makes.

Students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade work on their 'tricky words.' These are words that they practice frequently in class and should be able to read by sight. You can practice this year's words or get a head on next year's words!

Students can access e-books through Sora's website or app. Select and login with the Albany School District. You can check out and return books like at your physical library.

We would love to be pen pals with your student this summer! Students can write a letter at their level - draw a picture and add a sentence, write a few sentences, or fill a page. Albany School District staff will write them back!

IXL has numerous physical and online resources for math and reading. Practicing math fact fluency would be the highest impact work for the summer months. Some students may be familiar with this site from class.
