The Albany Comets Boys Basketball Teams travel to Monticello tomorrow night, 1/11th to play against the Ponies! Monticello will be sponsoring a FOOD DRIVE to benefit the Green County Cares Food Pantry. Check your cupboards and attend a great basketball game with a great cause.

Due to predicted severe winter weather (Winter Storm Warning), the Albany School District will be CLOSED ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 9, 2024.
Free choice time - play - is key to a child's growth and development. It's where our children develop and practice social skills - cooperation, sharing, patience, and team building. They also practice those fine motor and academic skills. Mostly, though, it's just FUN!
And just like that, three 4K students are half way through their challenge to read 1000 books before kindergarten! They are 500 books smarter!

The National Honor Society will be supporting the Albany Lion's Club Blood Drive on Tuesday, January 23rd from 12:30-5:30pm at the Lion's Club Building. Please come out to donate if you are able!

This week, we had a lot of holiday spirit, Frosty the Snow man stopped to read the Pledge of Allegiance....Way to go Buddy.
A special thanks to ALL the Albany 5th graders, staff, board members, & community members for their kindness and willingness to help others this holiday season. The Albany 5th grade class decided to present charity projects that they could collect donations for this Christmas season. Congratulations to the group of Logan McDermott, Tenley Doescher, Nevaeh Alexander, & Alyzah Scott for having their group chosen as the winning presentation.
Collected toys, books, arts & crafts and other materials will be dropped off to the UW Children's Hospital Juvenile Diabetes wing of the hospital. Everyday, locally, many children are diagnosed with juvenile diabetes and spend large amounts of time at the UW Children's Hospital for treatment. Most stays are for multiple days or weeks to the needed treatment. During these stays, the UW Children's Hospital does a great job of easing the pain of the diagnosis by giving the young patients fun gifts to make their stay easier. What a great representation of the Albany School District and community!
The Albany 5th grade students recently authored, illustrated, & shared their CHILDREN'S HOLIDAY BOOKS. The students spent the last two weeks working hard on this project. The project culminated with 5th graders sharing their stories with the younger elementary students in their classrooms. Great job Albany 5th graders!

Mrs. Freitag's 5th graders are having a merry time painting cookies with edible water colors given to them ( and the entire elementary) by our PTO. Thank you, Albany PTO! The kids had a great time painting and eating!!
