A special thanks to ALL the Albany 5th graders, staff, board members, & community members for their kindness and willingness to help others this holiday season. The Albany 5th grade class decided to present charity projects that they could collect donations for this Christmas season. Congratulations to the group of Logan McDermott, Tenley Doescher, Nevaeh Alexander, & Alyzah Scott for having their group chosen as the winning presentation. Collected toys, books, arts & crafts and other materials will be dropped off to the UW Children's Hospital Juvenile Diabetes wing of the hospital. Everyday, locally, many children are diagnosed with juvenile diabetes and spend large amounts of time at the UW Children's Hospital for treatment. Most stays are for multiple days or weeks to the needed treatment. During these stays, the UW Children's Hospital does a great job of easing the pain of the diagnosis by giving the young patients fun gifts to make their stay easier. What a great representation of the Albany School District and community!

The Albany 5th grade students recently authored, illustrated, & shared their CHILDREN'S HOLIDAY BOOKS. The students spent the last two weeks working hard on this project. The project culminated with 5th graders sharing their stories with the younger elementary students in their classrooms. Great job Albany 5th graders!

6th Grade students used a coordinate plane to create a symbol that represented their team. They had to use all four quadrants, at least 10 coordinates, and be able to explain how the symbol represented their team.

Fourth graders used squares to form as many pentominoes as they could. A pentomino is a shape made by joining five squares together side to side. Teamwork was imperative to their success.
