Director of Extended Day Program

Job Description

The Albany School District is seeking a dynamic director to lead our after-school program. The director is responsible for overseeing and planning daily activities, preparing learning materials, and helping students with homework. 

To ensure success as an after-school director, the successful candidate must be able to encourage social, physical, and intellectual growth within children and possess a strategic mindset. A friendly demeanor, a basic understanding of child developmental needs, and the ability to create a welcoming environment are essential.

General Job Responsibilities

  • Provide for the safety and health of participants.

  • Communicate with parents as appropriate.

  • Assist children with assignments and homework.

  • Work with administrators to develop monthly planning. 

  • Prepare learning materials and equipment, such as books, arts and crafts, stationery, and other supplies as needed.

  • Organize and supervise students with activities within the classroom and community.

  • Interact with children to provide guidance, emotional support, and motivation to complete tasks.

  • Maintain supervision of students until they are properly transferred to parental/guardian supervision.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children aged 4 through 12

  • A degree in early childhood education, teaching, or a similar field is preferred but not required

  •  CPR/First Aid certified. Certification can be obtained after hire (cost covered by district)

Days of the Week: Monday through Friday when school is in session

Time: 3:00 - 6:00 PM

Compensation: $25/Hour
