Scholarships & Financial Aid

Financial Aid Information - FAFSA

The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is a form students and parent/guardians can fill out to see if the student qualifies for financial aid through the federal government, what type of aid they may qualify for, and how much they may qualify for.

  • The first step in the process of completing the FAFSA is for BOTH student and parent/guardian to create an FSA ID. This will allow the student and parent/guardian to electronically sign the FAFSA to submit the application. You will need to do this step a few days prior to starting your FAFSA application.

Create your FSA ID here *** Both the student and parent/guardian will need to use their own personal email addresses to create the FSA ID

  • The second step in the process of completing the FAFSA is to fill out the application

You can start your FAFSA application here

  • You will need access to the following documents/information when filling out the FAFSA:

    • Social Security Numbers (both student and parent/guardian)

    • Driver's License Number

    • Alien Registration Number - if NOT a U.S. Citizen

    • Federal Tax Information or Federal Tax Returns - Including W-2 Information

    • Records of your untaxed income, such as child support received, interest income, and veterans noneducation benefits, for you, and for your parents if you are a dependent student

    • Information on cash; savings and checking account balances; investments, including stocks and bonds and real estate (but not including the home in which you live); and business and farm assets for you, and for your parents if you are a dependent student

Scholarship Search Engines:

You probably only need to sign up for one of the scholarship search engines if you are interested in finding scholarships in this way. There will be a lot of overlap between the different websites and they can tend to send a lot of emails when they find scholarships you qualify for or that fit your criteria. You may also consider creating a separate email account just for these scholarship search engines, so your primary personal email is not bombarded with scholarship opportunities.

PLEASE, ALWAYS REMEMBER, YOU ARE APPLYING FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE - IT SHOULD NOT COST YOU MONEY TO FILL OUT SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS!
